The moment Meursault looked at himself in the reflection after thinking about his time in prison was much the same, “My reflection seemed to remain serious even thought I was trying to smile at it. Meursault has the ability to look at his reflection and realize his differences compared to society. As Marie and Meursault’s relationship becomes more than just sex, Marie expressed her love to him and Meursault did not express his love to her, because he felt as if there was no reason for love. That begins to shape Meursault’s beliefs and thoughts. To Meursault the world is meaningless because no one can escape death. Much like, he cannot avoid prison or life without facing death. Meursault’s personality and honestly cannot be avoided and that makes him a stranger in the judgmental world. No matter how much someone tries to avoid it it will always find you. And with that echoing in his mind, he understand the nurse. But if you go too fast, you work up a sweat and then catch a shill inside the church.” (17).

For instances, during the funeral walk to the village the nurse said to Meursault “If you go slowly, you risk getting sunstroke. In part one-chapter one, Meursault is introduce to a nurse. From beginning to end, Meursault’s personality changes dramatically. Throughout the novel, Meursault’s world crash and for a minute he was able to look at the world, maybe with some meaning to it. From the beginning of the book to the end, Camus characterized Meursault with the intention of believing in absurdism. The novel follows a man’s journey from being absurd to seeking the values in life.

A world, which he will always be known as a stranger. In this novel “The Stranger” by Albert Camus, it depicts readers with an honest yet isolated man in a judgmental yet “meaningless” world.
